Dixie Talent Show was held Monday, May 19 at Erskine College.  The winners were
1st Place - Kala Collins
2nd Place - Josh Nance
3rd Place - Sebastian Todd
People's Choice - Kerrigan Clamp

Sears Places in Essay Contest

Congratulations to Sara Beth Sears of Dixie High School who received an Honorable Mention award in the South Carolina Dialogue Foundation’s Art and Essay contest. This year’s theme was Connecting Cultures in the Digital Age: How Does Social Media Change the Future of Our World?

Sara Beth’s essay placed 8th in the high school division. There were over 500 submissions from 42 schools and 26 school districts. After the awards ceremony at the University of South Carolina Law School, a reception followed where all of the essays and artwork were showcased for everyone to see.

Dixie FBLA District Conference

—At the Future Business Leaders of America District II Leadership Conference held on Saturday, February 1, at the Westwood High School in Blythewood, SC, Dixie High School students were the recipients of numerous district awards. 

 The following awards were received.  In Business Calculations – 1st Savannah Spearin, 2nd Austin Ware, 4th Yolanda Mullins; Business Math – 1st Derek Graber, 2nd Marissa Hines, 3rd Sara Beth Sears; Introduction to Business Communications – 1st Ashley Nickles, 2nd Whitney Poore, 3rd Leigha Snipes; Business Communications – 5th Andrea Poore; Business Presentation – 3rd - Team of Eric Cheek, Thomas Dent and Will Hopkins; Business Procedures – 3rd Austin Spencer; Health Care Administration – 5th Abigail Nelson; Introduction to Business – 3rd Samantha Ferguson, 5th Kerri Clamp; Introduction to Information Technology – Emma Iannone; Person Finance – 1st Janie Sullivan; Sports & Entertainment Management - 2nd - Team of Keaton Flowers, Trent Willey and Fenn Williamson; Public Speaking 1 – 2nd Haleigh Phillips; Public Speaking 2 – 4th Jacob Eller; Desktop Publishing – 3rd Team of Chelsea Lloyd and Kensley Carwile; Word Processing – 3rd Alyssa Ashley, 4th Lauren Branyon.

 All of these FBLA members are eligible to represent Abbeville County in the State Competitions to be held in Charleston in March.  FBLA-PBL is the largest business career student organization in the world. The high school division has over 215,000 members.  Dixie FBLA advisors are Beverly Spivey and Bob Devore.

Dixie High School Chorus

The following Dixie High School Chorus students participated in SC

Central Regional Choir on Jan. 30 and 31: pictured are  Sharaya Lopez,
Director Dr. Don Campbell, Alyssa Ashley, Levi Bell and Samantha Shaw.
 The choir, led by Southern Wesleyan University's Choral Director, Dr.
Don Campbell, had over 200 members.  After a day and a half of

Deadline to buy Yearbook

The deadline to purchase/order a Yearbook is aproaching quickly.  All purchases must be made before Thanksgiving Break.

SGA Food Drive

The Student Government Association has been holding a food drive this week for the 11th Annual Thanksgiving Meal that will be held at Erskine College on Thanksgiving for all that need or want to come.

Each day the students were to bring different foods:
Monday - canned sweet potatoes
Tuesday - cut corn/cut green beans
Wednesday - sugar
Thursday - cornmeal/corn bread mix
Friday - cranberry sauce

If you want to participate bring your items on Friday.  All items are welcome.
